Kresta Wilson, M.S. CCC-SLP | President | I want to be able to help as many children as we can in the state of Kentucky! Building a strong foundation is so important to give them the best life possible. I hope LEAF will be able to relieve the financial burden for families so they can put their focus on the therapies and educational services that their children need. We want families to spend more time helping their children and less time worrying about the money!
Lea Harper, B.S. Education | Vice-President
April Satterly, CPC | Treasurer | In my profession, I have to regularly explain visit limits and coverage denials to parents that are trying to do their best for their kiddos. They don't understand why if their child has a developmental delay they can't get the help they need. I'm very excited to be part of the solution! I see LEAF impacting families and children in Kentucky by bringing some hope and relief in what could be a very frustrating and expensive process.

Elizabeth Towles, Ph.D. | Certification in Developmental Disabilities | I want to support an organization that ensures kids receive the services needed without worry of the financial burden. Providing students with the services needed only improves outcomes for all kids and I believe LEAF has the opportunity to impact large numbers of children in our state!
Sue Mahanna-Boden, Ph.D., CCC-SLP | The mission of LEAF, to help children and their families with financial assistance to receive therapeutic and educational services, strongly supports my professional belief that any child should not be denied intervention services due to financial obstacles. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Through LEAF, children and families across the state of Kentucky will have an avenue to pursue for financial assistance to help reach their potential through continued services. Being a part of this organization is not only exciting but rewarding as well, knowing that there are professionals who hold paramount the welfare of children to become the best they can be. The impact of support received from LEAF will be very positive in many ways to the families and children attempting to navigate healthcare regulations and financial obstacles. Knowing that there is an organization whose primary focus is to help children receive needed services will help alleviate financial stress in family budgetary decisions and provide families opportunities to focus on what's most important....being a family.
Alison Brown, M.S. CCC-SLP | As a literacy therapist and researcher, I have felt empowered to be a part of students' journeys as they improve their skills. Their academic and personal confidence are positively impacted by access to quality services. Conversely, I have felt powerless to see students in desperate need of interventions that they cannot access. LEAF is an urgently-needed conduit to provide access to quality speech, language, and literacy interventions to children in need. When a child has an impairment that impacts communication and educational success, caregivers and clients themselves are already burdened in many ways. Providing an accessible route to services that will not result in stressful debt for families will ease minds and raise hopes.
My name is Hope Damron. I love being a part of LEAF because I see first-hand at my workplace how much therapy impacts the lives of children and creates the chance for each child to grow in their abilities and improve their daily lives! I know it can be difficult and expensive to send these kiddos to therapy, and I would love to use my skills and creativity to serve these families and help them get the help they need and deserve. In my downtime, I love to be outdoors, hike and travel with my husband, spend time with my family and friends, and volunteer with middle school students at my local church.
Hi! I'm Megan! In my current day-to-day position, I have the unique opportunity to not only help kiddos find and schedule the services that they need within Wilson but also see the direct impact and growth that those therapies provide. Within this, however, I also see the need for foundations such as LEAF on a daily basis. As a former educator and someone who continues to work with kids with learning differences, I truly believe that education is empowerment, and that is true even more so for students who face challenges both in and out of the classroom. As a mom, I know that nothing would feel more disheartening than being denied a service that your child needs because of financial difficulties. I am so excited about using my passion for kids and families to help find the funding they need to give their kiddos their best chance at success.
